The NEW Plan
  • PHASE ONE: Build a 50,000 square-foot church campus on our property in Draper, Utah (maximum cost: $6 million).
  • PHASE TWO: Plant new campuses in Utah County and in downtown Salt Lake City.
  • PHASE THREE: Expand the Draper campus (2nd building phase) to accommodate up to 6,000 worshipers.

FAQs About the New Plan

As soon as possible!

  • Building costs are at a 10 year low. We are able to save $2 million in comparison to 2007 building costs.
  • We are more than 80% full at “prime inviting hours” on Sunday morning and need space in order to grow.
  • Interest rates are at historic lows which makes it possible to finance more of this project.

There are three parts to the financing of this project…

  • Receive gifts from our church family (through the end of 2010) totaling $1-1.5 million.
  • Sell “Church Notes” with a maturity of 5 years, totalling $1-1.5 million.
  • Borrow from the bank (not more than $3.5 million).

We will have seating for 1200 adults in one service, which is more than double our current capacity in two services.

Approximately 3-6 months after enough gifts are received. We need $1 million in the bank and a clear line of sight to how we will collect another $1.5 million. We can borrow $3.5 million. To be fiscally responsible, we will not begin construction until then or we will reduce the size of the project.

Approximately 6-8 month after construction begins.

No; the new Draper campus, the church plants and satellite campuses are all part of the 20/20 Plan.

No. Your giving commitment to the new bulding should be above and beyond your tithe.

Ways to Give

1. One-time, Monthly or Other Gifts

You have the opportunity to let us know if you plan to give a one-time gift or pledge installments (weekly, monthly or yearly) toward the new facility. These gifts can be given by placing a Commitment Card into one of the Giving Boxes located throughout the church (4-foot tall, narrow wooden boxes). You may also set up automatic giving via our website (www.smccutah.com/give). Please be sure to indicate on the giving envelope or the online transaction notes which portion of your gift is to be used for “Ignite Building Fund” and what portion is to be used for general giving/tithe.

Our online giving option is completely secured through our Access ACS web interface.

Donate Securely to SMCC

2. Church Notes

You have the oppportunity to purchase SMCC Church Notes. These notes are similar to a CD that you would purchase through a bank or credit union. Notes can be purchased in increments of $5,000. Interest accrues annually and is paid out upon maturity, which is five years.

The official SMCC Church Notes will be available for purchase until our building campaign goal has been met. Please contact SMCC’s Finance Administration, Anne Pays, to make an appointment for purchasing an SMCC Church Note.
